NRC - Latest News - The Recession
Despite the recent hard times experienced within the construction industry NRC has successfully avoided the negative effects of the economic downtown. As a result of taking on board professional advice we're beating the recession with a cost effective budget designed to ensure that the company continues to remain financially secure and continues to thrive.
However the national crisis is not yet over and there will, in all likelihood, be further trials for us to face. Due to the professional advice we've received we feel that we are now in a very strong position to face these challenges.
One thing we've learned is how important it is to review the day-to-day costs of running our business
and to cut costs without cutting corners.
We've taken action which has included but not been limited to:
Reducing our paperwork to make filing easier, which allows us to save on staff resources & postage costs,
Negotiating costs with suppliers and clients to get better deals through early payments and agreements
to long-term contracts,
Reducing energy consumption by using fans instead of air conditioners to keep the building cool
during summer and warm during the winter,
Replacing traditional light bulbs with energy efficient bulbs,
Installing a voice over IP telephone system,
Becoming even more environmentally friendly by recycling office equipment, furniture
and supplies and last but not least …
we have all had to work even harder than ever before!
We have also helped to reduce many of our clients' costs by:
Collectively reviewing shift patterns,
Introducing specialist paint systems and waterless cleaning systems and
saving time by trimming and condensing workloads.
As many construction businesses continue to feel the pinch, at NRC thanks to the timely actions detailed above, we have managed to maintain a strong position within the industry. In fact in some areas we've even managed to increase our turnover.
We have taken on a positive outlook during hard times and treated the recession as a simple readjustment of the way we do business. Our opinion is that readjustment and disruption are bywords for opportunity and it's at times like these that we can look to pursue new strategies and shake up the old order.
The improvements we've made throughout the business means we can now look forward with a
positive outlook from a very healthy position.
You could say that NRC has taken advantage of the downturn to upturn the way we work!
